The importance of candidate experience

We live in a very fast-paced world, where economical shifts impact companies and individuals on a daily basis. Change creates opportunities for companies to be created and grow. For companies to grow steadily and efficiently, they need to implement a solid hiring strategy and to provide a positive candidate experience for everyone interviewing. I've worked in-house and realized how important that is, now I'd like to share that with you!

Here's my 4 reasons as per why providing a positive candidate experience is important:

1. Brand awareness:

Being on both ends of the recruitment process (as a recruiter and candidate) I came to realize that there is a difference between companies even from the very first "hello" with the recruiter to the very signature of the contract OR the rejection call / email that you send or receive. Take the time to tend to applicants! They take the time to apply to your position, take the time to tell them why they are good / not good for the job!

2. Offer acceptance rates are higher:

Imagine this scenario: a candidate has an offer from 3 companies for the same salary. Whilst there are many factors in consideration (perks, location, flexibility etc.) it all comes down to the company itself! Candidates will choose a company that WANTS and NEEDS them. Nobody wants to be a number; everybody wants to make a difference and stand out in their own way! Take the time to make them feel valued and respected - the results will be better!

3. Employee engagement and retention:

Many candidates that I've hired and that went through a positive experience during interviews and onboarding have referred to their friends and acquaintances. Good people attract good people! Be good to people and they will be good to you!

4. Reduction of time to hire and costs:

This aspect is a result of the previous point because as a recruiter I would not need to search for the candidates - they would come to by via referrals! There are many ways to look at how to implement a strategy around providing a positive candidate experience within companies.

I believe it starts with compassionate and caring people that enjoy their work and want to spread positivity. Remember - what goes around, comes around
